The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Argenio Declares for State House, District 80

Why I Must Challenge Deb Mayfield

This was a difficult but necessary decision.  I like Deb, her door has always been open and her office helped me cut thru red-tape with one of the government agencies.

We originally met when she was first running for the seat that Stan was terming-out on.  My purpose was to determine whether or not I needed to run myself.  She did satisfactorily answer my questions.  I knew she would not be as aggressive as me on conservative issues, but thought she would be a steady vote.  I decided not to run and told her I would not run against her unless she really messed up.

The Good - I met with her several additional times to discuss issues including the 10th Amendment, keeping the federal government out of our lives.  To her credit she did sign onto State Sovereignty legislation.

The Bad - She voted poorly on several budget issues including increasing fees, raiding trust funds, and using Stimulus dollars to balance the budget.  Nevertheless, I remained a loyal supporter.

The Ugly - In Pelosi-esc fashion, under the cover of Special Session, she voted for the Sun-Rail/Stimulus/Bailout Debacle.  There is no way that this bill would have passed in the full light of regular session, not when we are facing tough budget decisions, cuts in law enforcement and education, and definitely not after all the fee increases and raiding trust funds.

I am not one to claim to fix education by throwing money at the problem but to give you an idea of the magnitude of this bill: just one part of this bill is enough to give every county school district in the state over $10 million.

Deb appears to already have made in roads to capturing those backroom sweetheart deals, just recently her $122,000 a year job with the FHSAA has been called into question for having dubious political ties.  (link)

This bill is everything a Conservative Republican is against:

Stimulus
Bailouts
Payoffs
Backroom Sweetheart deals
Big Spending
Big Government Bureaucracy
Unsustainable Subsidies
Loss of Sovereignty
Loss of Personal freedom/property rights

All pushed through in a Hush & Rush without public discourse or debate.  In fact most people did not even know about it.

Conclusion

I didn’t register Republican to get stuff; I registered Republican to be free.

I don’t elect my representatives to be the next in line to loot the treasury; I do elect them to be part of the solution, not part of the problem or to become entrenched in the political establishment.

We need to Change the Culture of government.
We need to strictly adhere to the Constitution.
We need to return to our Founding Heritage.
We need to keep government small, taxes low and our markets free.

Thank you and God Bless,
